Oh Scrappy Blog, how I have neglected you!!

I can't believe another year is coming to a close!

I started thinking about scrapping goals this week! As I was considering new goals for 2012, I had to stop and remember the goals I had set for this year!
I had 4, two I accomplished and 2 I failed at.

The first for this year was having the courage to submit my LO's to Ready Set Create! With a little encouragement from my dear friend Miss J, I submitted! I was thrilled to get my projects published! So, my first goal was to submit projects for every design call for RSC in 2011. DONE!

My second goal was to submit for RSC design team! DONE!! And I made it!! I am so thrilled about this opportunity!

My third goal was to scrap a double LO every week for my own family! FAIL!! I make lots of scrap books but I usually end up giving most of them away as gifts! I LOVE making albums for others but I end up neglecting my family's albums! I have three gift albums in the works, but NO More in 2012!

My forth goal was to keep up with My "Day in a Life" (DIAL) album! This is a album I work on every month. On the 11th of every month I scrapped whatever was happening for the month! I LOVE the idea but I have not been very good about getting past the first month or two! So, it was FAIL too!!

So for 2012 I am (re)determined to scrap a double LO every week for my family!~ AND I am GOING to keep to date with my 2012 DIAL album!!

Peace

I have always wanted to make a pure white LO but wasn't sure how to go about it! When my baby sister delivered her baby and I saw this picture, I knew it would be perfect! I LOVE the way it turned out!

Liberty, anyone??

As soon as I saw this Liberty line in the Scrapbook Doodle Shoppe, I knew I had to get it! My husband is in the Air Force so Red, White and Blue always catches my attention.

We usually make a little mini album for Brian when he deploys so when I saw this mini, I had to order it immediately.

This is the first mini I have done using a prepared book. It was certainly more challenging than I anticipated it to be! There is just not a lot of room in this Mini, hence the name!

At first I really struggled with the open spaced on each page! I really had to let the OCD side of me go, so it didn't drive me crazy!

The book is done except the boys need to do a little journaling on the tags.

Enjoy!

Playing with Glimmer Mist

I watched a Youtube video this morning about Glimmer Mist techniques.

I sprayed 4 sheets of Photo Paper with various colors Glimmer Mist. Then I had to be patient and let them dry! If you know me, patience is a weakness for me!

This one is 4 different shades of pink! BTW... Cadillac pink is GORGEOUS!!

Teal and lime green

This I did with Shimmerz Purple Spritz and the Glimmer Mist Graphite.

On this one I sprinkled course Kosher Salt on it before letting it dry. Once it dried the salt just rubbed right off leaving this crazy fun pattern! It was 2 shades of red and two shades of orange and then some brown.

Happy Birthday Momma

Mom,

This is my Birthday Gift to you! I am sorry that it is still at MY house and not at yours! I need to find the shadow box that it will go into.

When your Mother passed away I knew I wanted to do something special with this picture I had of the two of you! I spent about a year trying to figure out exactly what I was going to do with it. A couple months ago I finally figured it out. This layout was actually published in the last issue of Ready Set Create Magazine!

I originally was going to go with a neutral color scheme since your decor is ever changing. But I decided that the best choice would be to use Grandma's favorite colors!

Happy Birthday Momma! I think your amazing!!

A Boost of Confidence

Today I got a little boost of confidence in my scrappy world! It was greatly needed! The timing couldn't have been more perfect as I was feeling quite down and out today!

How about you, what gives you a boost of confidence in life? In scrapping?

A little addiction....

GLIMMER MIST!! Oh, how I LOVE this stuff and use it all the time!

I have lots of scrapping supplies that I "Had to have" but never use it! When I bought my first two bottles of Glimmer Mist I was worried about actually using them!
No need to worry, I use them on everything! I LOVE this stuff! I recently squirt the last squirt out of my Pearl Mist! It was kinda bitter sweet! (I am a sentimental sap!) I was proud that I actually used up a product but at the same time I was sad to see my favorite color gone!
To fill the void I just made and order... 13 Glimmer Mist! Yes you read correctly, 13!!
Of course I had to reorder my favorite Pearl. Along the way I found a color called Bubbles, so of course I had to try that! There are also some new limited edition colors I just had to have too! Who could pass up Cadilac Pink, Mel's Diner, Route 66, Marmalade, Popsicle, Sweet Clover, Sand and Indian Corn??
Addicted?? Yes, but I use them!
How about you??
Do you have products you have bought but never use?
Do have an addiction to a product you use constantly?
Do you have Glimmer Mist? Love or Hate it?

National Scrapbook Day

I LOVE National Scrapbook Day and I always try to do a little scrapping!

I guess I am quite emotional this week as this NSD got me all emotional and sappy! I was thinking about when I first started scrapping 13 years ago!

I must start by telling you that about a year before I started scrapping, a friend showed me her scrapbook and I thought she was CRAZY for spending all that money and time on her album... Then I got pregnant with my first precious little boy and I decided I HAD to start scrapping! I remember those first few layouts, I was SO frugal! We didn't have much money AND we lived in Japan where scrapping supplies were very limited. I would be oh so very careful what I put on each layout not wanted to use up all my precious supplies.

My how things have changed over the last 12 years! I am not longer totally frugal, in fact I can be quite indulgent on my scrappy supplies. I am thankful to have a husband who supports me and knows that I LOVE my hobby. I want to make each layout special and if it means using the very last sheet of my favorite paper or using the last spritz of my favorite color glimmer mist, then so be it!

Before scrapping I tried several other hobbies like pottery, painting, crocheting and cross stitching. I was totally known for starting projects and NEVER EVER completing them. So when I told Brian I was going to start scrapping I am sure it thought it would be another of my temporary hobbies. Now, I have long quit pottery, painting and cross stitching but being the frugal gal I am, I kept all the tools, paint brushes and floss and I use them in my scrapping now! So, those hobbies were not a complete waste! haha

The only other hobby I have is photography but I think scrappy and photography go hand in hand.

Patience...

is something I don't natural have! Yet I am learning to become a patient person!

A few years back I spent a lot of time deciding what kind of scrapbook albums I like! I am (a little) OCD and I wanted all my albums to be the same! I finally decided on the Making Memories Post Bound Albums! I purchased 12X12 and 9X9 albums. I LOVE the 9X9 size and I have need more! Maybe I am the only one who likes this size as Making Memories has discontinued this size! I have searched and searched and searched in hopes to replenish my supply. Several months ago I came across a website that had them for $13. I spent a couple days trying to decide what colors and how many to order. By the time I went to order, they were back up to $18 a piece! Being the bargain shopper I am, I couldn't imagine paying full price for them. I decided to wait and hope that they would go back to $13 eventually. Along with the decision to wait I risked the chance that they would sell out and I wouldn't be able to find any of them.

I saved the website and I have gone back occasionally to check the price and they were always $18. BUT TODAY, they were on sale for $8.99 a piece!! PLUS a 10% off coupon! That made me VERY happy! I ordered 6 of them! The 12X12 were also on sale for $9.99 so I ordered 5 of them!

Cubes for my Room!

As I told you a couple days ago, we traveled ALL over eastern North Carolina for these black metal drawers! But I tell ya, it was sure worth it! I LOVE it! Even the boys have all said it was worth the "wasted day".
I still need to print out labels (in pink of course) but I wanted to make sure they are filled with exactly what I want in them!
I have 6 jars on top and I need three more! I am planning to put all my flowers in them, sorted by color. I love practical AND pretty!

East Coast Trip Album part 2

For whatever reason, Blogger wouldn't let me add or change the first post! SO, here are some pics from my album!

East Coast Trip

I have been busy for the last several weeks working on this album! Actually I am making two of these! I will give the second to Brian's Dad for his birthday!

I have NEVER completed an album for our family so I am really excited about this! I still have a couple LO's to do but I WILL finish it!

Room maker-over

It has been a long time since I posted but I have been busy finishing up an album from our East Coast RV trip last summer! I have never completed an album so I am excited about this! I have 2 or 3 LO's left and I am certainly dragging my feet! But I WILL get it done!

I also started reorganizing my scrap space this week! SO, at the moment my room is a disaster but it will be great when it is done! I bought a 9 cube unit along with 9 metal drawers! It looks so good. I hope one day my kids will appreciate the 5 1/2 hours of driving to 4 different Targets to get the drawers! I found out at the second store that the drawers were discontinued so I HAD to finish getting them! On the hour drive to the last store my kids wouldn't say a word to me! They were SO mad at me! The weather was beautiful and they didn't get to play outside! It has been raining nonstop the last 2 days so that has not helped!

I will show pictures when it is done! Totally excited!

My Valentine's Girl

Oh, I love this little Hero Arts stamp. I bought her back in November and I didn't even realize how perfect she would be for Valentine cards!

Stazon Tips

I really like Stazon Ink! Here are a few tips I thought I would share with you!

Stazon has this great little clear cover on the inside. Now, this help keep the pad from drying out but I find it is a pain to deal with! I usually end up getting some ink on me, somewhere when I work with these!

SO, I decided to use a glue dot and stick it to the outer cover, permanently. It works like a charm!
Place the glue dot on the " inside center dot" of the outer cover, this way you don't get any on you!

Place clear cover back on ink and then put the outer cover back in place. Give it a little squeeze on the center and you are done!

The next time you open the cover you won't have to worry about that silly clear cover inking YOU up!

Because I am (slightly) OCD (or CDO as my husband calls me) I like to label everything! My inks sit on thier sides in a drawer and the labels make is really easy for to me to find exactly what I am looking for.

Faith Hope Love

I made this floating frame for a client just before Christmas.

I think it turned out beautiful! She is going to put it above her fire place with two black sconces next to it.

Yummy New Goodies!

I always love getting packages in the mail but I especially love them when they contain scrappy stuff!
I splurged and ordered 6 Glimmer Mist! I LOVE this stuff and can't seem to get enough of it! But honestly, I use it ALL the time.

I REALLY love the Old Lace. It is so pretty! But my favorite changes weekly.

How about you? Do you have glimmer mist? Do you love it? What is your favorite color?

Scrappy Goals for the New Year

I have never made scrappy goals but this year I decided to give it a go!
I have been really convicted over the last few months that I scrap for others all the time but rarely scrap for our family. That makes me sad!
SO, this year I promising my family that I will make at least 52 Double layouts for our Family albums! That is one a week and that seems reasonable!
I still have four albums for others to finish up, but I will only do a LO for them when I have completed one for our family. So, let the scrapping begin!!

How about you? Do you have a scrappy goal this year?
